A central feature of modern democracies in the West is the clear, often legally mandated separation between church and state. In Poland, this separation was (and is) not so clear and the Catholic Church played (and plays) dramatic roles in the political life of the Polish state. What dangers do you think this lack of legal and political separation presented (and/or presents) for the “new” Poland? What benefits?
